Diesel engines make a lot of heat, especially when they’re towing, hauling, or working hard in the Alabama summer. When the cooling system can’t keep up, an overheating engine can quickly lead to a blown head gasket, warped heads, or worse. At Brookwood Truck & Trailer, we diagnose and fix overheating problems on diesel trucks and equipment before they turn into major engine damage.
WHAT CAUSES OVERHEATING?
Overheating can come from a lot of places: low coolant, a leaking hose, a bad thermostat, a failing water pump, a clogged radiator, or a fan clutch that isn’t engaging. On a diesel, it can also point to bigger problems like a head gasket or oil cooler failure. We’ll test the system and find the real cause, so the problem doesn’t come back.
IF YOUR TRUCK IS RUNNING HOT
If your temperature gauge starts climbing, steam comes from under the hood, or a warning light comes on, pull over and shut the engine down as soon as it’s safe. Driving an overheating diesel, even a short distance, can cost you an engine. Give us a call, and if you can’t make it to the shop, our mobile service can come to you.
